Pest-Free Fresh Start for the Musée des Maisons Comtoises in Nancray

A Major Relocation Project

In May 2025, Thermo Lignum supported the museum in a particularly large-scale project. As part of the construction of new storage facilities, collection items from two older depots had to be relocated and temporarily stored off-site. To ensure reliable protection of these valuable and often sensitive wooden objects against insect infestation, the museum opted for thermal treatment with Thermo Lignum.

Warm-Air Technology Instead of Chemicals - Dual Approach on Site

The challenge: a wide variety of objects had to be treated across a total area of 425 m² – ranging from small hand tools to large agricultural machinery. The designated temporary storage, an old agricultural shed, was unsuitable for chemical or anoxic treatment – making it a perfect case for Thermo Lignum’s well-established WARMAIR technology with controlled humidity.

The treatment was carried out both using Thermo Lignum’s mobile unit on-site and through temporary heat-treatment tents set up inside the storage building. The entire process was carried out in close coordination with the museum’s team and executed step by step.

Special thanks go to our project manager Oliver Junk, who oversaw this extensive undertaking with great care, expertise, and dedication – much to the satisfaction of the museum.
We are proud to have contributed to the long-term preservation of this remarkable collection using our eco-friendly warm-air technology – and we thank the museum for its trust in our work.
