A congress theme that illustrates how the discipline of conservation and restoration has developed in recent decades. Progress through research and trial and error. Methods of analysis, documentation, treatments, choice of materials, and the circumstances in which conservators and restorers work are constantly evolving. The congress provides an opportunity to evaluate the profession and the way in which experiences can be utilised and shared. With a review of the feasibility of conservation treatments, ethical decisions and the application of best practice - since the 1980s.

NKF (the Nordic Conservation Federation) focuses on the challenges of preserving the artistic, cultural and natural heritage and the resilience of the conservation profession in an ever-changing world. The congress is an international event and can accommodate 150-200 participants. The event will take place at the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen.
